Author: Jenny Smith

Jenny Smith is a designer who started blogging in 2004 to share lesson and activity ideas with members of her home branch Mississippi. Her collection has grown, and she now single-handedly manages the world's largest collection of free lesson help for LDS teachers with faceted search. Her library includes teaching techniques, object lessons, mini lessons, handouts, visual aids, and doctrinal mastery games categorized by scripture reference and gospel topic. Jenny loves tomatoes, Star Trek, and her family -- not necessarily in that order.

Wow

The site has been live for only 6 hours today, and so far 13 people have registered. One has even commented! Wow! And this is a slow day -- only 1000 visitors so far this morning, and many of those would have been after the site went live. Yay!

Frustration

I started a long, beautiful post about our trip to Disney World, which was lost when Firefox crashed as I was scrolling down to save it. I am just not meant to blog about vacations, I guess. Then the website was totally down for several days due to some error on Jared’s part. The site […]

Optimization

I've been working on trying to optimize the new platform for MormonShare.com over the past week or so, and it hasn't been easy. Sure, the new features of the website are phenomenal, but it's really taxing the server it's running on and I haven't yet been able to figure out why. Please remain patient as […]

Holocaust victim baptism

We put in the last 100 daffodil bulbs plus the 50 "blue" bulbs I ordered. I cleaned out three of the raised beds. The fourth is covered with junk and the middle one has strawberries in it that I want moved. I may wait until spring to transplant them, since that's when I'll be cutting […]

Gym Dandy

I went to the gym today, and weighed in like I planned. I wasn't expecting to have lost anything yet, but I'm down 1.5 lbs to 136.5! That's exactly where I want to be: 1-2 lbs/week. I lost even though I could only go to the gym 3x last week! On Tuesday I voted and […]

Magnifying your Calling

This object lesson requires a magnifying glass, a sunny day , a piece of paper, and just a regular piece of glass. Take your class or family outside and give one person the magnifying glass and another person the normal glass. See who can burn a hole in the paper. The lesson could take many […]

Comb Your Hair

Have students comb their hair, with the stipulation that they cannot bend their elbows. This is quite a hilarious sight to see them trying to comb hair with straight arms. Its basically impossible unless the person has very long hair and can bend over very far. Then give the same comb to a neighbor and […]
